Chestnut Lodge Wargames Group
The 30th Anniversary
1974-2004

The original founding group, comprising of Steve Hale, Graham Attfield, Bob White, Eric Sanger, Andrew Barton and Jim Wallman first gathered at a South London community centre called Chestnut Lodge to play wargames in 1974. Dissatisfied to a greater or lesser degree with the mainstream approach to wargames and its historical (in)accuracy the club was founded on the members' insistence on writing their own rules and doing their own research. The group quickly grew - and formed a 'Junior section' only a couple of years later

New - Some photos from the 'Olden Days' have been unearthed.

Suddenly, it is 30 years later. Sadly, in the intervening time two of the founders have died, one has lost touch, and one lives in Wales, but the club lives on. Over the years we have had many members, and many fascinating gaming experiences.

The current membership felt it would be fitting to mark the achievement of 30 years of our unusual brand of gaming by holding a very special anniversary bash.

The 30th Anniversary Bash was held in the Admiral's Quarters, HMS Belfast, London on the evening of Friday 25 June 2004

There are some pictures of the event here

If you are an ex-member, or know an ex-member, please get in touch - just email Jim and say 'hello'. It will be great to catch up, reminisce and perhaps even start a new era in the history of the club.
